Robert J. Paquette papers

About

Robert James Paquette was born on March 22, 1926, in Quinnesec, Michigan, to Medolph and Josephine (Fabry) Paquette and graduated from Kingsford High School in 1944. Immediately upon graduation, Paquette enlisted in the United States Navy and served during World War II as a corpsman in the South Pacific. After the war, he returned to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and married Patricia Ohman, with whom he had five children. He died on January 19, 2014 at the age of 87.

This collection documents his military experience during World War II, including correspondence to Paquette's parents and sister in Kingsford, photographs of his life on board the Magoffin, including images documenting the traditional "crossing of the equator" initiation celebration, some wartime memorabilia, and alumni newsletters. A few items were not published online due to copyright restrictions. For more information and to see these items, contact the NMU Archives.

UPLINK also has the World War II correspondence of Clarence Fabry and Norman Fabry, Robert Paquette's uncles.
