Norman M. Fabry papers

Norman Midaz Fabry was born in Nadeau Township, Michigan, on January 6, 1920, to Belgian parents Servais “Servie” Fabry and Victorine “Victoria” Glime Fabry. Fabry served as a tank crewman and commander in North Africa, Italy, Belgium, France, and Germany. On September 22, 1944, while fighting in Belgium, he was seriously wounded in the face and shoulder by shrapnel. He returned to active combat duty the following month. Fabry participated in the invasion of Germany and the U.S. occupation of Berlin. Fabry also fought in the Korean War. He retired in 1963. Fabry died in Killeen, Texas, on June 15, 1990.
This collection documents his experience in World War II. The collection consists of several letters and photographs. The letters were written to his sister Josephine Fabry Paquette and her family in Iron Mountain, Michigan.
