About

The Covington Museum was founded in 1997 by a group of citizens who wanted to preserve some of the history of Covington and its Finnish and French immigrant communities. The Museum now houses artifacts from all aspects of life as it was in the early days of these immigrants. The museum has many displays including rooms from the homes, a school room, a men's work room, a bridal boutique, carpet looms, a hand pump gas pump, a fire truck, a store, farm equipment, logging artifacts and much more. The museum also offers a Genealogy Room. The Museum is run strictly by local volunteers and admission is by donation. The mission statement of the Covington Historical Society is "Preserving our heritage for future generations." The museum is housed in the old Town Hall, which served as the meeting place for local government and was also used for weddings, dances, Children's Christmas programs and more.
