June Pontti (born 1914) was a neighbor of the Kirby family, who lost two family members in the Barnes-Hecker disaster. She discusses her family background, her mother's dream about the mine the night before the disaster, the funerals, efforts to recover the bodies, how the tragedy affected the town, and how she learned of the disaster. |
