Description / Synopsis
The man on the left side of the picture seems to be doing what looks like a Nazi salute while the man next to him smokes a cigarette. Depending on the time frame, this is either a Nazi salute or a Flag salute. These pictures seem to be depicting a lumber camp in Ontonagon County, which could be Camp Pori, a CCC camp turned German POW camp during World War II. However, it's unlikely a prisoner would be so unabashedly doing the salute in front of Americans. It's more likely an older photo, and he's doing the Flag Salute (or the Bellamy Salute) to honor the American flag. |
