About

The Finnish American Heritage Center began in 1990 as part of Finlandia University in Hancock, Michigan. Upon the closure of Finlandia University in 2022, the FAHC became part of Finlandia Foundation National.

The Center offers exhibits, lectures, plays, musical programs and community events each year. The building is a popular stop for tourists and the beautiful Martha Wiljanen Community Hall is available to the public as a rental space. The Heritage Center is also the home of the Finnish American Folk School. The FAHC Historical Archive houses the largest collection of Finnish-North American materials in the world. Along with archival materials, the collection includes genealogical resources, information about Finnish culture, artifacts, and North America’s largest collection of Finnish-American artwork.
