Duluth, South Shore and Atlantic Railway Marquette, Michigan, July 5, 1887. Accident Report An accident occured on the Duluth South Shore and Atlantic Railway near Spurr Station on the 5th day of July 1887 at 250 am, caused by: Engine of the special passenger train running over man named Peter Hassell who was laying on the track near Spurr bridge. Hassell was one of the workmen on track at that place. 4th of July holiday he had been drinking, was dead when found. Train consisted of empty coaches returning from Houghton to Marquette. Copy of corner's[*] inquest by John Milroy, J. P., attached. Casualties - One trespasser killed. A. Watson, General Superintendent.
