Dona Nelson (born 1931) discusses her family, her education in North Lake schools, the lack of extracurricular activities, recreation, holidays, plays, diseases and medical care, tuberculosis, a fire that destroyed the North Lake school in 1938, the snowstorm of 1938, the Barnes-Hecker disaster, the 1946 iron strike, her memories of World War II, entertainment, daily life, agriculture, pets, chores, and 4-H club. |
