Description / Synopsis |
Description / Synopsis
A mid-'80s Chicago-based band that made one album for Flying Fish in 1984 titled "The Jazziest Balkan Dance Band Around." They mixed traditional jazz instrumentation with harmonica, mandolin, and non-traditional instruments like the darabuka, kaval, and roto-toms. They played both Balkan material and jazz standards like "A Night in Tunisia." The band consisted of Terran Doehrer, Jim Beck, John Carpender, and Donald J. Jacobs. |
