Center for Upper Peninsula Studies Oral History collection

About

The Center for Upper Peninsula Studies (CUPS) was a research center at Northern Michigan University from 1996 to 2020 that ran conferences, workshops, and presentations about the history and culture of the UP, including themes such as the environment, ethnic groups, economics, politics, folklore, and literature. They also created educational materials, exhibits, and audio and visual materials.

This collection contains oral history interviews conducted by CUPS and transcripts of those interviews. CUPS also transcribed many oral history interviews held by the Central Upper Peninsula and Northern Michigan University Archives. These transcripts have been linked to the collection that the original audio recording belonged to rather than to the CUPS collection.
