The Ishpeming Area Historical Society was founded in 1999 to preserve the history of Ishpeming’s people, businesses, schools, and organizations. Their collections include the Ishpeming High School yearbooks, city directories, Sanborn maps, scrapbooks, and the Friends of the Carnegie Library calendars. Some prominent topics in their collections are the H.W. Gossard Company, famous citizens such as John Voelker, Glenn Seaborg, and Kelly Johnson, and local organizations such as the Blue Notes band and the Swedish American fraternal organization Vasa.
