Sylvia Milimaki (Millimaki?) grew up in Rousseau, Ontonagon County, Michigan in the 1920s and 1930s. She married Charles Soruari. In this interview, she discusses a wide variety of topics including education; accidents, deaths, and diseases; dances, music, and entertainment; courtship and meeting her husband; changes in transportation; and chores and household activities such as laundry, canning, hunting, raising animals, syruping, and cooking. She also tells anecdotes about various residents of Rousseau, especially the family of the interviewer, Edward Rousseau. His grandfather founded the town of Rousseau, and his grandmother ran the post office and store and was the township clerk. |
