This collection consists of newspaper and magazine article related to the history of Drummond Island. Most of the articles concern two prominent families on Drummond Island, the Seaman family and the Bailey family.

Daniel Murray Seaman, Elizabeth Grandy Seaman, and their family became the first permanent European settlers on Drummond Island in 1853. The Seamans were also early adherents of the Mormon Church. John T. Nevill wrote a series of articles about the Seaman family of Drummond Island in The (Sault Sainte Marie) Evening News in 1953 in honor of the Seaman family's centennial on the island.

In 1880, George Warren Bailey, Cornelia Edgerton Bailey and their family came to Drummond Island and soon united with another prominent early family, the Seamans. In 1999, Jill Lowe Brumwell (a Bailey descendant) wrote a series of articles about the Bailey family of Drummond Island in The (Sault Sainte Marie) Evening News.

There are also a few items related to the Strickland family. They were one of the early European families to settle on Drummond Island. George Strickland (1843-1937) moved to the island with his family in 1879 and served as the minister of the First Congregational Church there for many decades. His brother William Strickland was an early doctor on the island.
