January 5, 1891 Saturday For The Year 1890 The rail shipments of ore over the DSS and A have been computed for the year 1890 and were 186,149 gross tons. There were shipped by lake from the Marquette docks during the season 1,316,353 tons h and led by that road. The shipments from the St. Ignace dock were 15,911 tons making a total of 1,518,413 tons h and led by the road during the season. The increase in rail shipments for the year much more than makes up for the slight falling off in the shipments from this port, owing to the blockade of the Sault canal at the time of the breakdown in the lock. |
