Daily mining journal (Marquette, Mich.) Source: The Mining Journal Marquette, Mi. December 31, 1892 Saturday Fall Under the Wheels Ishpeming - As the local freight which leaves Marquette eastbound every morning, No. 24 was entering St. Ignace Tuesday night at ten o'clcok, G. B. Chaffey, a brakeman making Marquette his headquarters, fell from the side of a box car and one leg crushed under the wheels. The surgeons found it necessary to amputate the injured member just below the knee. Chaffey is 38 years old and unmarried. His home is in Oconomowoc, Wi., where he has a mother living. |
