Electronic reproduction of: Transcription from Daily mining journal (Marquette, Mich.), May 1, 1890. Source: Daily Mining Journal Marquette, Mi. May 1, 1890 Thursday p.8 c.2 Killed on the Dock Joseph Rimeard, a carpenter, fell from the top of the extension of No. 1 ore dock shortly after 6 o'clock last evening and was killed. He was just leaving his work when he slipped from and fell between the piles, striking his head on a large floating block. He must have been badly stunned for he sank to the bottom without a struggle. His comrades drew the unfortunate man out as soon as possible but life was gone. Justice Crary was summoned and viewed the body which was then taken to the house of his brother in-law, with whom he lived, Peter St. Michael, on Prospect betwen [*between] Third and Fourth streets. His mother, a widow, lives in Negaunee. The dead was 25 years of age, unmarried and a member of the St. Jean de Baptiste society and of the Carpenters' and Joiners' union. The date of his funeral will be announced later. DSS and A Ry. DSS and A - Dock |
