September 14, 1889 Houghton.- Saturday night's DSS and A passenger train which leaves Duluth at 9:30 pm ran over a man between Brice and Marengo. The accident was discovered by the engineer noticing that something was wrong with his engine. Stopping the train he discovered a coat sleeve and some blook on the locomotive. The train was then backed up and in doing so ran over the body again. Teh body was that of an unknown man. The man's right leg was completely severed from the body in an oblique direction beginning on the side immediately under the ribs. The train arriving at the next section station, notified the railroad h and s to go and take care of the remains. DSS and A Ry. Passenger |
