Source: The Mining Journal Marquette, Mi. January 12, 1889 Not this Year, S'mother Year I have been told, too, that the South Shore folks will commence on their new branch from main line to Ashl and in the spring. It is said that, although the nearest point is but twelve miles, the company will have to lay about 22 miles of track in order that big bridging may be avoided over White River and two or three ravines. It is quite probable that there will be considerable activity in railroad work in this section next seasoon, all of which will, of course, bring business to Ashl and . Ashl and News.
