June 16, 1888 Saturday To Run Into The Soo The first passenger train over the CPR, consisting of an engine, baggage car and two passenger coaches arrived here from Sudbury Wednesday morning at 4 o'clock in charge of Superintendent Coyne. All trains will start from this side of the river, leaving the union depot Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6:00 am EST, and connect at Sudbury with trains bound east and west. Trains this way will arrive at the union depot Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 12:25 am, EST. As the Soo is now governed chiefly by CST there will be an hour's difference between local and CPR time. The road bed is in fairly good condition for a new road and under the direction of division engineer Ramsay, is being rapidly ballasted and bettered. Superintendent Coyne said that trains will make about 20 miles an hour for the present. The run to Sudbury will be made in eight hours and 45 minutes. As soon as the traffic warrants it, daily trains will be put on. A depot of h and some design will be erected at the Canadian Soo at once. It will be located near the Northern road.
