March 10, 1888 Saturday The worst storm of the year reached the Soo last Saturday night and howled all day Sunday in terrific shape. It blockaded all ihe trains and the Sault did not receive any mail until Thursday morning. The South Shore passenger was snowed in just west of Wellsburg on its return trip and did not reach the Soo until Monday night. The engine was disabled by an eccentric strap being broken or it would have reached the Soo Saturday night. There were 11 passengers aboard. Conductor Loftus did his utmost to make their imprisonment as pleasant as possible, until help arrived Monday afternoon. DSS and A Passenger |
