February 18, 1888 Saturday A Frightful Blow About 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon Albert Clement met with a painful accident while at work on the ore dock extension, which will be apt to lay him up for several weeks, if, in fact, it does not result in something of a more serious nature. He was st and ing near the guides of the pile driver and was struck by a big splinter knocked from the top of the pile by the hammer. His cheek bone was broken and his head and face terribly mangled. Clement was taken to his home on Third street immediately after the accident, and medical aid summoned. The dressing of his wounds was a somewhat difficult task, but in the evening he was reported as getting along favorably, though suffering considerably. Clement is a man of family, and has been in the employ of the railroad for several years. DSS and A Docks |
