December 24, 1887 Saturday The M and N has built to Champion, connecting there with the DSS and A, there gaining an entrance to all the thriving towns in the upper peninsula, and giving that section of the country a direct line to Milwaukee. With the completion of the "Soo" road there is no reason why Detroit should get a dollar's worth of the peninsula's business. It belongs to Milwaukee, and if the Milwaukee merchants will but look to it they will get it. The M and N has made this possible by commendal enterprise which at present, is better appreciated up North than it is here. -Milwaukee Sentinel Milwaukee must get a "move on herself." Three years from January 1,1888, Gladstone will do the "Peninsula business" herself. She is nearer the Peninsula than either Milwaukee or Detroit. M and N DSS and A MSSM and A |
