Accident Report - May 28, 1887. An accident occurred upon the Duluth South Shore and Atlantic Railway at Clarksburgh on the 28th day of May 1887, at 150 o'clock P.M. caused by: Rail in siding turning over as train was passing through. The main track was occupied by a disabled engine, with train going west, while the train coming east was passing through on side track. The rails in siding were poor, the engine was one of a new lot recently received, heavier than previous equipment, and when nearly in front of the disabled engine the inner rail on siding pressed over, letting engine more [* move] toward main track. Pilots of engines were broken and some drawbars on ore train. Track blocked for 4 hours, no persons injured. (Sidings between Ishpeming and Michigamme are being relaid with steel).
