Electronic reproduction of: Transcription of newspaper article : Mining journal (Marquette, Mich.), Dec. 4, 1886. source: The Mining Journal Marquette Mi. December 4, 1886 Another Party Gone Wednesday another DSS and A surveying party left Marquette to begin work on the line west of Three Lakes. The party numbered 23 men, including six axemen and six packers and was under the charge of Mr. J. H. Geroken. It will start west of the first party sent out from here, that under the charge of George Marsh and will pick up the line about 30 miles from Nestoria. Wednesday Mr. David McCormick and Mr. Bush, two of the engineers who have been awaiting orders here, started out. Mr. McCormick going to Ashland, while Mr. Bush will probably go clear through to Duluth. Three parties are now at work in the Gogebic region, two, including that starting today near Three Lakes and two on the Sault branch, making seven in all, while one or more will be started out from this place in a few weeks. BH and CO. are certainly pushers on work which they undertake. With departure or this party all engineers who have been here waiting to be sent out, will have gone. |
