November 27, 1886 This won't be news to readers of the Mining Journal, but it serves to show that the railway schemes projected for this peninsula are attracting considerable attention outside. It is taken from the Wall Street Daily Indicator: The DSS and A [Duluth South Shore and Atlantic] will build about 200 miles to have a continuous line from Duluth to Sault Ste. Marie. The new road will form a connec- tion with the Pennsylvania and New York Central systems and at the Sault connection will be made with the CPR, GT and a new road known as the Brockville, Westport and Sault Ste. Marie. None of these roads as yet reach the Sault, but all are now building that way. The last named road will run from Brockville, on the St. Lawrence, to the Sault, a distance of 467 miles. The St. lawrence will be bridged at a very narrow point near Brockville. The only other bridge of any proportion to be built by the new system is that over the Sault Ste. Marie.
