July 12, 1891 Sunday Big Enterprise Two of Marquette's Business Men Will Own and Conduct It A Great S and Stone Quarry It is Located at Newtonville, and its Product is Practically Inexhaustible and of Superior Quality of Red S and stone A new stone quarry has just been organized at Newtonville, on the shore of Keweenaw Bay by D. L. Case and M. Lurling, two of Marquette's enterprising business men. The stone is the finest red s and stone and it is claimed that the supply is inexhaustible. Mr. Case was interviewed by a Sun Time's reporter yesterday regarding the new development of s and stone. He said that the firm would ship this season about 25,000 cubic feet and that this was a small business compared with what they expected to do next season, when they expect to quarry and ship 500,000 cubic feet. The quarry is conveniently located for transportation and it is confidently expected by the owners to build up one of the most extensive stone quarry enterprises in the Upper Peninsula.
