December 11, 1886 Saturday Commencing the Transfer John Hornby, general manager of the MH and O and Andrew Watson, of the DM and M, on Monday morning met with James McMillan at Detroit and turned over to him the management of both roads, which he will hold until they are merged with the DSS and A. Arrangements have been completed for the S.S. Marie bridge, the two companies holding charters from the Canadian and American governmetns have consolidated. Plans have been prepared and the contracts will be let as soon as the secretary of war has approved. The bridge will cost $1,00,000 with massive stone and iron abutments. The draw will be 375 feet long. |
