November 27, 1886 The Detroit Tribune displays it knowledge   of the railroad situation in the upper peninsula by stating that "about forty-eight miles of road will be built from the junction of the MH and 0 with the DM and M to Sault Ste. Marie." If the Tribune can can connect Marquette with the Sault by a railroad line forty-eight miles long he is just the chap the engineers here are looking for.  The Turkish bath has been introduced in Marquette. In one of the railroad officies, the headquarters of the road over which the first ticket is yet to be sold, some of the occupants "put up a job" yesterday afternoon on one of their number who was absorbed in transferring to paper some valuable pointers for future ages, and through his obliviousness to all else they were enabled to successfully carry out their scheme. The victim was seated in a small room by himself, and after contriving to close the door and transom the conspirators went down stairs and so manipulated the furnace that its entire heat was poured into the room, making it hotter than forty Mexicos. By the time the mercury had reached 94 a small but vigorous volcano got loose in the room, and the way sulphur was mixed with the caloric in the air made the expectant plotters outside think for the moment that an Oskosh match factory had gone on a tear within, while the door flew open and the windows went up with a rush. A decided coolness followed.  Married Yesterday William J. Green, of Republic, and Miss Mary E. Hardiman, of this city, were married at 9 o'clock Wednesday morning at St. Peter's cathedral and left for Republic in the evening, where they vill reside. Mr. Green was formerly a Marquette boy, and is now an e ngineer on the MH and O with headquarters at Republic. . . .
