Towers for the Mackinac Bridge going up (15 of 50)

The tower sections are placed by the "creeper" crane and temporarily bolted. The riveters then move to the joint and rived it together with workers in both inside and outside of the tower structure. The work platforms move up to the next location. Note the cage hanging from the cable. This is the "elevator" the crew uses to get to the top of the tower., Electronic reproduction of text. The Mackinac Bridge 1954 - 1958.
