Tower base for the Mackinac Bridge (3 of 3)
Abstract/Description: | Workers screed and level the grout that will become the surface on which the tower base plate will sit. It must be flat and level to support and transfer the 6,500 ton of tower to the pedestal. The bolts support a "roof" to keep weather off the surface that is being prepared. Note that the bolt threads and nuts are protected from damage. |
