Causeway for Mackinac Bridge (1 of 3)

This 4200 foot long causeway which became a part the north end approaches to the bridge span was built in 1941 as a part of an attempt to bridge the Straits of Mackinac.  During bridge construction it was used as a staging area and parking lot.  It saved the $3,000,000 in the cost of building the present bridge., Electronic reproduction of photograph.
