This completed first section of a tower caisson (No. 20) is ready to take the trip to the bridge 90 miles away. The unit was built on the beach. The crane had to dredge a channel so the caisson could be towed off the beach and into Lake Huron for the trip North. This turned out to be no easy task., Electronic reproduction of photograph.
