Abstract/Description: | cranes using clam buckets remove overburden from inside of caisson 18. Overburden in the form of rock, sand, and mud was deposited outside the caisson. Note the pipe discharging water in the center of the photo. This "Air Lift" was used as a vacuum to remove the fine materials. |
