Steamship Let 'Er B (Chicora)
Abstract/Description: | Photograph showing the steamship "Let 'Er B," which was built in England as a blockade runner for the Confederacy during the U.S. Civil War. It was an extremely fast vessel and as a blockade runner carried none of the masts shown in this image. The smokestacks very likely were made to telescope down to keep a low profile and thus avoid detection. She was cut in half in 1867 (to fit through the Welland Canal) and brought to the Great Lakes. |
