Steamer Wallula
Abstract/Description: | Photograph showing the two-stacked freighter "Wallula", in a downbound passage throught the Weizel Lock. The lock chamber was twenty feet wider than the gates in this lock, and there is a barge in the lock to the left of the Wallula. The spar of the barge (with chains and rigging) is visible at left. The "Wallula" orignially had two stcks, 4 masts, three sails, and 7 hatches. Scrapped in Bath, Maine, in 1920. |
