Indiana Mine, Northwest of Lake Fumee, Breitung Township, Menominee County (later Dickinson County, Michigan, May 1886: Taken in May 1886, this view, looking north, shows the Indiana Mine, located on the W ½ of the NE ¼ of Section 27, T40N, R30W. This mine, located northwest of Lake Fumee, opened in 1882 and shipped its last ore the year this photograph was taken. The mine reopened in 1915, and a settlement called Richardsburg was established. However, the last ore was shipped in 1920.
