Abstract/Description: Jean Ritchie was one of the major figures in folk music. The author of Singing Family of the Cumberlands and Celebration of Life, as well as one of the founding members of the Newport Folk Festival, he served a term on the Folklore Panel of the National Endowment for the Arts.
