Serena starts the interview talking about her family and their life in Italy and why they came to the United States. Her father died young and it was her stepfather who brought the family over. She talks about growing up in Iron Mountain among other immigrants. John Depardeau, a local businessman, is discussed as her family ran his grocery store after his death. Parades and masquerades were a big part of life, as well as food. Recorded at Iron Mountain, Michigan. |
