Bonacci immigrated to America in the early 1900s to find work. He worked in Omaha, Nebraska on the railroads for a few years before migrating to Sault Ste. Marie to work on the Soo Locks. In December of 1912 he moved back to Italy; the day after he arrived he was drafted into the Italian army. After being discharged, he got married in Italy and then returned to Sault Ste. Marie in 1919. He discusses his life after returning to the Soo. His wife, Maria Bonacci, and his daughter, Clara Libertoski, also speak. Interview is in English with occasional interjections/comments in Italian. Interviewer does not identify herself. |
