George and Lena Colombo are brother and sister and were born in Lombardy, Italy. They moved to Coburntown in Hancock County, Michigan with their family in the early 1900’s. While looking over family photographs they discuss their family’s legacy and the Italian community of Coburntown. Additionally, they discuss the hard lives of miners and the hazards of their jobs when they worked in the Quincy mine. The protest that took place in 1913 about the conditions of the mines, and how many members of the Italian community moved to cities for better jobs is also discussed. |
