Painesdale Mine and Shaft, located in Painesdale, Houghton County, Michigan, is dedicated to preserving the Champion Mine #4 Shafthouse as well as buildings, objects, and documents related to the Champion Mining Company and the town of Painesdale. Their digital collections include Justice of the Peace records for Adams Township from 1876-1881, Atlantic Mining Company invoices from 1879, records related to Painesdale Mine and Shaft’s own preservation and education efforts, and (with the Copper Range Historical Society/Museum) an extensive collection of records documenting the Copper Range Company from 1898 to 1966.
